Notes for Thomas Jones: Will lists legatees: Sarah, land on which my father
Thomas Jones lived; son Mathew Jones. Executor: son Mathew Jones. Dated

Recorded August 8, 1781. Pg 428. NOTE: His wife is not listed in his Will,
therefore, she probably died prior to the date of his Will.

Notes for Patience Newsom: She is the daughter of Joseph Newsom and Julian
Pope. Many sites show her as the daughter of Joseph Newsom and Patience
Jones, however that marriage occured in 1760 and so a daughter of that marriage
could only have been 6 years old at the maximum at the time of Joseph Newsom's
death in 1766. However, his Will notes a son-in-law, Thomas Jones. I believe that
the Patience Newsom who married Thomas Jones was Joseph Newsom's daughter
by his first marriage to Julian Pope. Patty Newsom is first in the list of children in
Joseph Newsom's Will, so she was probably his oldest living child at the time the
Will was written. Her mother, Julian Pope was born in 1722, so Patience could have
been born as early as 1740, making her old enough to be the wife of this Thomas
Jones. This is my theory - not proven.

Notes for Sarah Jones: She married Edmund Johnson. He was born about 1755
VA and died April 12, 1803 Southampton Co VA.
